ST JEAN DE CRIEULON
|
Area: 551 ha This is a nice little village along the secondary road linking Sommières and Anduze, Saint Jean de Crieulon is also well-known in the area under the name of Villesèque. Before having the name of the village, Saint Jean de Crieulon found a priory dedicated to Saint Jean (it may be seen from the church's farmhouse). This village has only appeared around the end of the 16th century and made part of the Vibrac Barony. Numerous gallo-roman sites, all over the village, have been listed. You can still see a roman bridge over the Crieulon river (small road connecting Saint Jean de Crieulon and Sauve). Today, the village got bigger and you can see some wonderful detached houses in the shade of green oaks.
